I entered US on student visa in 1996. Got married to a US citizen in '97 and got work permit. I applied for adjustment of status. Then, after about 8 months got letter for interview by INS. Could not attend the interview, because my wife had left me by then. Then after about 1 year, got letter from INS that my application for adjustment of status had been denied and I had an option of appeal. I did not appeal. I never got any other correspondence from INS (may be because I had moved).
I kept attending university full time and completed my Bachelors degree in 2002. Then I left US voluntarily in 2007.
I would like to apply for re entry with either F1 or H1 visa. What are my prospects?
