Repossession Permit in Chicago, Illinois
I have been told that in the City of Chicago (Chicago only, not the suburbs), a repossession agent (repo man) will now have to obtain a permit to repossess vehicles in the City of Chicago.(I'm not talking about the repo ID that is issued to you from the repossession company) I was told that this new "law" would come in to effect on May 1st of 2009, is good for 2 years and costs $250.00. I was also told that if you have a felony on your record, you cannot be a repossessor in the state of Illinois, unless the company you work for goes to some kind of repossessor board or committee and tells them that you have been rehabilitated. Is any or all of this true?
