My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan
i was recently at a cmu tailgate and was given an mip. the officer said he saw me with a beer and when he approached i didnt have one, b/c i saw him coming and slowly put it down, when he approached he saw a/the beer can in the bed of the truck and asked "where'd the beer go" when i replied what beer" he pointed and asked me to come with him. While walking to the car i confessed to having 1 beer, it was my first one and only half gone at that. He did not give me a pbt and proceeded to write me up. Im 18 and my parents would throw a huge fit if they ever found out, so i think im going to try and aviod them knowing.i have a couple questions
Do they send a letter to the address on the ticket? or since the ticket was written by the university police they would send the ticket to the address on the university list serve?
What would be my chances of having the sentence reduced to a civil infraction b/c i cooperated, did not blow, and is my first offense
Should i plead guilty or not guilty b/c while doing some research i found that when pleading not guilty i can enroll in diversion programs/probation b/c its my first offense.
How much does an mip normally cost
Can i erase it from my record? and if so what do i have to do and how much would it cost on average?
