Default Not Being Allowed to See Child
My question involves paternity law for the State of: Georgia

The mother of my child and ex-girlfriend is trying to obtain a paternity test from me. I have willing donated DNA, been paying volunteer child support (no court order established) and she is now saying that because there is no court order allowing me to see my son; I am not allowed to see him till afterwards. However she told me that she is going to sever my parental rights completely. My son was born in 2008 and I signed the birth certificate, can she keep me from seeing my son?

Until you have pursued a court order for visitation, yes, she can keep you from seeing the child. Given that you've already voluntarily acknowledged the child as yours, this is a step you should have taken immediately after.

Do that now. While you're at it, ask for joint custody.

What people say "they" are going to do and what the courts do are two completely different things.

She can scream from the mountaintops that she's going to have your rights terminated. All she'll get from that is a sore throat - unless you've been legally declared unfit, your rights will not be terminated, no matter what she wants.

The courts take a mighty dim of people using their children to threaten the other parent. She's going to be awfully disappointed by the results of that.
