Default Money Wrongfully Taken From a Joint Account
My father came back into my life in 2005. He convince my brother and I to open up accounts with his names on it too so he could be able to put money in them , which he was doing. Then he took us to social security to file for back pay of benefits. The money was to go into the accounts and directly to us. Well my father saw that it was there before we did and took the money out.It was a total of 28,000 together from our accounts. When confronted with this he refused to give it back and said he didn't have to, and he was right.Even though the deposit had our names on it they said because his name was on the account that he was able to take it all and that there was nothing that we could do to get it back. Is this true? There got to be some kind of way to get our money back from him?

Default Recovery of Funds
By placing the money in a joint bank account, you create the presumption of joint ownership. To recover the money you and your brother will probably have to sue your father.
