Default Wrongly Accused of Stealing and Terminated

I need some help, I started working at a local Animal Shelter in Texas about 3 weeks ago. Every thing was going very well, I got along with all my co-workers and did every thing I was told. Then yesterday I came in after two days off and ask about adopting a puppy that had been there for almost a week. I was told it would be fine and we filled out the papers on the puppy. I had been told I could take the adoption fee from my next check, it was no problem they did it all the time. The I went about my work. After lunch my manager called me into her office and explained that I would not be able to adopt this puppy untill I had been there 30 days. She explained it was policy and to protect us from trying to save all the the animals. I was hurt but did understand that it was policy. I returned to work feeling a little sad. I about 30 minutes past and I walked by where the puppy had been and he was gone. I thought they had taken him back with the rest of the litter to be put down. In my mind it was over nothing I could do. Then I get another call to the office and she tells me the dog i ask about is gone and ask if I knew any thing about it. I said "No" firmly because I new where this was about to go. She said she was going to look into this and sent me back. TEN minutes later she calls me back and Ask me again and said that I was the pnly one that wanted the dog and now it is missing, she said "Do you want to redeme your self?" I said no I didn't do any thing I never even touch that puppy after this morning. I ask if she wanted me to go look through the freezer for the puppy that I new what it looked like, she said it's not there you know that. She then said the I am going to have to terminate you, I need your keys.

    Default Puppy

So some unidentified person rescued the puppy you wished to adopt from the animal shelter within thirty minutes of when you were told you could not adopt the puppy, and your boss didn't believe your account? I'm not passing judgment here, but it is a big coincidence for you to ask your boss to accept. You truly have no idea how this could have happened?

The dog is missing not rescued I wish it had been rescued. I really do not have a clue how this happen, if a co worker had some thing to do with it they never told me. I don't think they ever will now. What I really think is the puppy was put down with the rest of the litter, I think since I had adopted the dog it's pappers where changed. A number could have been misread or wrote. Who knows. I know I had nothing to do with it. A co-worker said that people take dogs all the time and every one knows that, I guess the boss had just had enough and wanted to make an example of me, and I do understand that but I didn't do it

The bottom line is I have learned I have NO rights at all in Texas. These laws need to change, if some one is going to be let go (fired) they should have a reason and have to be told the reason, that way when an employer is WRONG the employee has something to fight for. I have no choice but to sit back and take it. I find it very insulting to be called a liar and a theif when the only thing I did was ask to rescue a puppy on death row. I didn't stand up for that dog, maybe I should have but I played by the rules and look where it got me- FIRED with no puppy.

    Default Sorry to hear that.

    Hi,

It is awful what happened to you. However, unfortunate things happen, and sometimes out of our controls. Don't be too upset. You know you did not do it, and there are people believe you that you did not do it. That's all it matters.

    Peace
