Ex Roommate Refuses to Return Security Deposit

My question involves a security deposit in the State of: Maryland.

i subleased a room in a 2 bdr apt., (Baltimore, Md) apt management check my credit but my agreement was with original lessee which was: month to month, 30 notice to move, and that security deposit of $700 would be returned after exit inspection of apt. I moved out in accordance to terms of above, 3 months ago and ex roommate refuses to return my deposit and emailed me to not contact her again and accused me of harassing her. How can I get my deposit and can I sue for more than the security amount withheld?

Your only agreement was with the original lessee? Then that person is your landlord and you can sue that person in small claims court for the return of your security deposit.

yes my only agreement was with original lessee however I did have to provide my credit report and paystubs to the apartment management company for review. upon leaving I did do a walk-through with apt. manager and roommate. can I sue for more than security deposit withheld since I had to juggle other financial obligations due to not receiving a timely refund?
