Whats the differance between eligible for CUSTODY and elegible for JAIL?
|
Perhaps you can explain the context in which those terms are being used.
When the police take someone in to "custody" it generally means they are under arrest. However, custody might also mean they are being held for a mental health evaluation, or in the case of a minor, perhaps they are being held for safe placement with social services. Generally, "custody" means that you have been placed into law enforcement's care under some statutory authority.
When you go to jail, that means that you go to the big, solid building with guards, big heavy doors, and bad people housed inside.
