Default Male Wants Nothing to Do with Baby
My question involves paternity law for the State of: Florida

Ok, here goes. I have a male friend that just got news that a girl he just started seeing is pregnant. Their relationship wasnt going great and he wanted out right before she came out with the news. He doesnt want a child, and doesnt want to be with her but she doesnt believe in abortion. So, its inevitable that he will be a father by the end of the year. That is, IF its his. He tried time after time with an ex of his for 3 years and nothing ever came of it, so theres doubt that this one is his. What can he do? Wait until she has the kid and get a DNA test done? Is it possible for the baby NOT to have his last name if he doesnt consent...if it was in fact his? Could he give up his parental rights so only she has say so in the child? He said he'll pay if he has to pay, but wants nothing to do with her.

I would have your friend get a lawyer and file for paternity before the baby is born. When child is born, a DNA test will be done. He will pay support with a positive result. I'm sorry he doesn't want anything to do with the mother, but I hope he will embrace and love this child. In my situation, I was told it was impossible for my ex to have kids, well.....GUESS WHAT!!! However if he wants to pay support and not see the child, that's his choice. And a bad one. Keep us posted.

He can register with the state's putitive father registry. Then as soon as the baby is born he can file in court for a DNA test.
