Default Establishing Paternity in California
My question involves paternity law for the State of: California

I have a situation that i would really liked answered. I have a friend that found out that he might have a son year ago and the child was about six or seven years old. Before he was notified of the child the alleged father had signed the birth certificate and claiming the child was his. Now that the mother and the legal father not together anymore. Ive already read the Family Code but really did not understand it. What can happen?

Can she file for child support against him?
Does he have to take a Paternity Test?
Is there a statue of limitation on Paternity Testing/

Maybe; maybe; the child's a minor, so that's not an issue.

You have too many abstractions in your question. Tell your friend to read this and, if he still has questions, to discuss the details of the case and his goals with a lawyer.
