Default Ohio Paternity Law
My question involves paternity law for the State of: Ohio

Ok here is the situation...My ex gf got pregnant by her "other bf" while we were together (yes she was dating two men). After I found out about this we broke up and I moved on and recently got married. For awhile now my ex has been playing this game of "you might be the father" since the child was born in August of 08. Just this week she called to inform me that the baby's father is submitting a DNA test to determine parternity. So here are my questions..

1-His name is on the birth certificate and has been the acting father since before birth does that mean he is father regardless of the DNA test?

2-If he is not the father and I turn out to be then what are my options?

Please try to explain this to me in simply terms as the Ohio Revised Law site is not the best place to seek advice!

No. If DNA shows that it's not his child, the timeframe is short enough (child isn't even a year old yet) that he can challenge paternity. You can be ordered by a court to submit to a test. If the child were a couple of years old, it's possible that the court wouldn't want to upturn the child's life by introducing a stranger as a new daddy, and it's POSSIBLE that the "acting" father would remain in that role. At 7 months old, the child has more than enough opportunity to bond with you in a role as father.

To visit the child and be part of the child's life or not. If you are established as the father, a child support order will follow.
