Default Domestic Battery First Appearance
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Wyoming

I filled a report when my husband hit me, two months later he is arrested. He has been going to counseling of his own free will and we started going to marriage counseling together too. I guess my question is what sort of proceedings will go on the first time he his brought in to see the judge? This is also the judge that issued me a restraining order and then subsequently dismissed it at my request. This will be his first time ever in trouble with the law. Also any opinions on what his punishment my be or the direction the case will go from here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Default Re: Domestic Battery First Appearance
Many jurisdictions offer a deferral of a first offense domestic violence charge. Your boyfriend should look into whether that's available in his county, and if he qualifies. He may want to seek a free consultation with a local criminal defense lawyer.
