My question involves paternity law for the State of: Washington
My question is if I'm obligated to put the father of my baby on the bc. I'm due in july and he is already making my life hard, demanding I be in the area he is living in following the birth and over night visits during the first few months. He started demanding that after finding out I was planning on taking her directly following birth to another town for the summer. He said he could get a court order for me to stay in his general area because of the baby. He is not very responsible and I am terrified that he would not take good care of her. My solution was to not put him on the bc but a friend of his family is a lawyer and informed me that if I didn't put him on he could go to the hospital and do it without my permission. Is this true? What alternatives do I have to putting him on the bc? We were never married, so that at least is not a problem. Any advice is appreciated.

You cannot put him on the birth certificate if he is not there. Without him being on the court order, he is not legally the father. Without paternity established and a court order for visitation you are not legally obligated to allow visitation. If he is not legally the father, he cannot stop you from taking your child anywhere.
If you were concerned about his parenting skills, you should have thought about that before having a child with him.
Do not let him know when or where you are going to give birth if you do not want him there, it should not be a stressful time for you.
