Are parents/guardians required to come to court with teen?

.. I was wondering if I had to go to court with my parents, I shoplifted $114 worth of items and my court date is set after my birthday therefore I'll be 18. Since I commited the crime when I was 17, will a guardian be required to come with me. In addition, what If I attend court without one, will they be appointed to come? (Iam in North Carolina by the way) A friend told me her story of having a DUI, and reporting to court on their own.

Your going to be charged as an adult. You parents don't need to show up and they won't be asked to.
