My question involves criminal law for the state of: WA
I was arrested 6 years ago in Washington for felony shoplifting. I didn't live there at the time, nor do I live there now. When I was arrested, I was taken to the county jail and then released with no bond or anything. The officer took a statement from me and then just let me go after fingerprinting me. He told me the store I stole from wanted to talk to me, and then just let me go. I received a letter in the mail about a year later from the company I stole from stating that they wanted to talk to me, but I never responded. I got the idea that the company wanted me to admit to stealing from them on a regular basis and then charge me with more. I live in Co now, and I did back then too. I got pulled over about 4 years ago and a felony arrest warrant from WA came up when the office pulled my name. He told me that in Co, it is a safe state and he couldn't extradite me or anything. My question is, will the warrant ever go away or will it be there forever?! Is there a statue of limitaions on a felony theft charge in the state of Wa? I have family up in Wa, and would like to go visit without being worried about getting arrested!
