Default Reopening a Workers Comp Claim Years Later
My question involves workers compensation law for the state of: CA
I was employed by a California company and sent overseas to work where I contracted hepatitis while living in a village there. I filed a workman's comp form at the time (roughly 1993)so that it wojld be on record, but did not make any financial claims. It is possible (but not yet verified) that I now have chronic hepatitis. the company has since moved out of state. Do I have any recourse here from the origional company or from workers comp?

Probably not, if there's been no action on the file for more than fifteen years. Generally speaking, a claim for "new and further" disability from a work injury must be made within five years. I suggest consulting a worker's comp lawyer.
