Verbal Contract for a Car

My mom passed away in june 2004. after her passing my stepfather attempted to sell my mothers vehicle when he was unable to sell it cause he could not afford the payment i told him i would take it. so we agreed on that he gave my the payment book and i have payed on it every month 242.00. he never once bothered me when i was paying the bank. he then sold the house him ands my mother shared and moved he made a profit and told me when it sold he would pay it off and i would pay him so my payments would be lower well time passed the house sold he never payed it off. a few months later he went and got anothre loan and this time we agreed he wouyld pay it off and it would still remian in his name until i payed it off we agreed that i would pay 165.00 a month he said that would help him having a little bit of money coming in each month.. he paid it off in oct. or nov. of 05 .Since then he has been harassing me telling me i need to get a loan and pay him 4000 i told him i would try but he knows my credit is bad i tried and was unable to get a loan so he then still agreed to keep it the 165.00 a month to pay it off i even have him on a tape stating this ok well he called me yesturday and told me he was coming to get it he wants to sell it cause he has some taxes that he owes so he come and took it cause the title is in his name what do i do??? we had a verbal contract and this is my stepfather do i have a leg to stand on to sue please help!!! what about all the money i have payed since nov 04

If you agree that you owe him the money, find a way to pay him and have him title the car over to you.
