Default Wrong Driver's License Number, Wrong Registered Owner

My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: CA

I recently received a ticket for violating section 22405 (I was apparently going 85 on a bridge where the limit was 55). On my ticket, the officer has made two mistakes. The first is an incorrect driver's license number (missing a digit). The second is an incorrect registered owner. The office checked the box that reads "Same as Driver", but the vehicle is registered to my father. Is this enough to get the ticket dismissed?

Furthermore, I have been notified that I am not eligible for traffic school because I was going more than 25 mph over the speed limit. If I decide to contest my ticket, can I also make the case that the speed limit on the bridge was too low, and thereby request the ability to attend traffic school to keep the point off my license? Is it unwise to make the case for this while simultaneously trying to get the ticket dismissed?

No. You can always try to raise it to try and point out the officer was not too observant, but clerical issues are generally not a cause for dismissal. Plus, if your father has your name or if he asked if the car was yours and you replied, "Yes", then the officer's action is reasonable.

Furthermore, I have been notified that I am not eligible for traffic school because I was going more than 25 mph over the speed limit. Yes, you can get traffic school (assuming you are otherwise eligible). The clerk of the court cannot offer traffic school for speed at 25+ MPH over the limit. However, the court CAN authorize traffic school.

Thank you for your quick response. I also noticed that the Patrol Vehicle Number was missing, but if clerical errors are not usually grounds for dismissal, then I guess that doesn't matter. Again, thanks for the advice.

The Patrol Vehicle number might only be an issue if challenging the pace of his vehicle (if he used his speedometer). But, even if assuming a HUGE error on the speedo (like 5 MPH), you'd still be well over the posted limit.
