My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
Hi.. I am a landlord. Per the original lease agreement, rent is due on the 1st and a late fee of $50 applied if not received by the 5th of the month. The original lease is over and it's month to month now.
The tenants do not have problem paying the $50 late fee each month, but it's typically not until between the 10th and 25th before I received the rent (of course, with the late fee). The worst was one whole month passed.
My question is can I apply additional late charge? For instance $50 if not received by the 5th and $100 if not received by the 15th?
