Default What to Do if You Suspect a Car is Being Hidden from the Repo Man
My question involves a [possible] repossession in the State of: GA

There is a vehicle that's been parked in a fairly out-of-the-way public parking lot and has not been moved in over a month. No one in the area knows who's car it is. All we do know is that the tag is up for renewal in March of this year. The suspicion arises as the car was backed into the parking space somewhat hiding the tag. It's also a fairly late model vehicle and in real good condition. So, it's not likely that it's been disabled or in a state of mechanical failure.

Who should be contacted about such a vehicle? It does need to be moved regardless of whether it's in default or not.

Thanks!

Is it your parking lot or interfering with you in some sort of way or is this a case of 'nosy neighbor'?

Call 911 that's why we pay taxes.

Property Manager has been contacted.

The car has now been in the parking lot since the middle of January. It interferes with the parking lot cleaning company as they have to maneuver around it every time they sweep through the parking lot.

County Police was consulted and deferred to the Property Manager.

911 is NOT designed for this kind of complaint. Not unless it's actually deemed an emergency. So, if the vehicle was on fire, yes, 911 would be called immediately.

If it is private property. The vehicle can stay indefinately until the property manger calls a tow truck to remove it.

If it was city property it would be towed based on the amount of time that it is there.

You may be able to take the vin # to the loacal DMV, some states even have a vehicle check on line, and they can tell you if there is a lein holder on the car (meaning it is financed) and who is the lein holder- then call that company- or lein holder- ask them if they are looking for it. They will tell you if they are

FWIW, this matter was resolved this past Saturday morning when a wrecker showed up and towed the car away. The owner of the vehicle was discovered, given time to move it on their own, and it still sat there for nearly a week.

The legal/mechanical status of the car is not known to me. The situation was resolved between the property manager and the owner.
