Default How Can a Real Estate Company Run My Credit Without Even Speaking to Me

My question involves a credit report problem in the State of: tennessee

I recently discovered a copy of my credit report at the home of my daughter's mother. When I asked her how she had gotten this information, she stated that she had recently tried to rent a home from a local real estate company and she did not qualify. She then proceeded to give them my information and asked them if they could see if I would qualify. The representative took my information and proceeded to not only run an inquiry, but also gave her a hard copy of the report. This was all done without my knowledge or permission to my ex or the company involved. And the fact that we are not and were never married makes it even more disturbing. This company did not attempt to call me to verify permission or accuracy of information. What actions should I take against her and the company? It seems that lines of privacy were not only crossed, but trampled on. Any information would be appreciated.

You need to contact all 3 credit bureaus and have your credit reports LOCKED. You will be given a PIN code to give out to lenders who you apply for credit with.

You also need to place a CONSUMER STATEMENT on all of your credit reports stating "DO NOT GRANT CREDIT UNLESS YOU CALL ME FIRST ON MY CELL PHONE and post your phone number."

It is a federal offense for anyone to use your credit or social security number who is not authorized to do so.
