Default Registered Sex Offenders and Child Custody

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

My question involves criminal/family law for the state of: cali

My ex-husband is a registered sex offender (288c) and is due for release soon. We have two small children together and used to have joint custody. He wants to return to that agreement and I have a huge problem with it.

Do registered sex offenders still have the opportunity to have custody of their children when their crime was against a child?

Have you gone to court to modify the custody agreement since the conviction and incarceration?

You are bound by the COURT ORDER unless you get it changed.

Yes as long as the crime wasn't against their child or another relative. Who was the crime against?

    Ditto the previous reply.

If you feel he will somehow be a danger to his own children, then you need to waste no time and go to court and obtain a custody order reflecting your concerns (denying him visitation, custody, unsupervised visits, whatever).

The crime was against a family friend's teenage daughter.

We are going back to court next month.

You really should start your own thread, but I will give you a pass...

Again, unless you have gone to court to modify the court order, you are bound by it.
