Default How to change the legal boundary when land is acquiesced

My family has had property since the 1960's in Julian Ca. There has never been a fence, but there has been an understood boundary which is now being challanged. I have maintained a certain area for fire prevention for over 40 years, now a new owner has surveyed and found that i have been taking care of 40 feet of his land, my septic tank is even on there. The owner who designated the boundary years ago is long gone, what are my rights? I have cared for this propert since 1999 when I acquired it from a cousin who couldn't pay taxes, but was there in 1967-69 personally pulling the weeds on "my aunts propery" Didn't we aquiesce the land by our care. We had a tree swing for 30 years in a tree he cut down and informed me is on his property. Don't is have any recourse?

    Default Boundary Line Dispute

You should consult with a local real estate lawyer about the potential of bringing either a claim of acquiescence or adverse possession under your state's law. Your recourse lies with a court order which recognizes the former agreed upon boundary line.
