Default Anyway to Stop Collections on a Car Loan
I moved to a different state in which i purchased my car in. I had it on auto pay and in December of 2008 some reason auto pay got rejected by my bank. In Feb of 09 i called toyota finance asking why they didnt take my Jan payments becuase i didnt notice it until that month looking at my bank statements. I totally forgot to update my information because i just moved (i know my fault i shouldve) but i didnt think i would have a problem since its auto pay.

They told me they sent it to collections because of those 2 payments (which i can afford to still pay for). they said collection agency will ask for full payment of the car which i dont have that lump sum of money. They said cant do anything about it. they will probably repo my car and i will be car-less..

is there any way i can keep my car? i can afford the payments.

well, you didn;t state the state you first lived in and you did not list the state you currently live in.

Did you somehow miss the statement about the state when you started this thread?

Since the answers are state dependent, best of luck to you because nobody can even guess without the states involved.

Did they charge it off? Did you receive a letter from the collection agency? If so call them. In Tn the agency acts as a agent for the bank and you make payments to them with the check made out to the original lender. You can negotiate w/ them. If it's put in repo you can file for TRO(temp. restraining order) and prove to the court what you've told us. You also have your credit rating to worry about.
