Question Purchased a Stolen Car
My question involves criminal law for the state of: FL

I just purchased a car from a craigslist ad. I spoke to a girl who's name was "Stephanie" when she came to meet me with the car, it was her Dad's and he was with her. She filled out the receipt with a phony address and he signed it. When I went to register it, it turned out to be stolen. (He had a signed title but stole it from where he worked) Luckily I wrote down her license plate and that is how the authorities arrested him. They did not arrest her (yet) as they said she didn't know. But she gave me a fake name and fake address, the local phone number she has is not being answered and immediately goes to a recording that said no voice mail has been set up. So I assume its a throw away phone. She even brought her kids with her a baby and 6 year old. The car and her "Dad" are from TN. She was surely in on the deal. I even think they brought fake buyers to where we met to create urgency for me to buy it.

My question is can I sue them/her?
How am I going to get my money back?

The business he worked for gets their car back. I was told since he was a current employee of that business and on parole I can possible seek damages from the business?

Can I still press charges on her even though the investigator did not arrest her with him?

PLEASE HELP!

Yes, you can sue the crooks. I have no idea what role the "business" played or why somebody thinks you can sue the "business" - if the "business" is the victim of the car theft, why in the world would you think that they have to give you money?

Criminals aren't particularly good about paying back money unless they have to. I expect you'll have difficulty getting money back, save possibly as restitution through the criminal courts.

See if there is a victim's rights person on staff at your county prosecutor's office, and talk to them about the case.

It turns out the business knew he was crook and he robbed them before, when he got out of jail they gave him a job to work off the money he owed them, [I] was told they know his whole family and they are all crooks. The business was going to sell him the car and said he had bank financing, he was supposed to go to the bank and get the check and go to DMV to register the vehicle, so they gave him the title and keys and he just drove off. Also as an employee of this business the sheriff said they are legally responsible for his actions. So that where I got the notion to sue them.

So other than restitution there is no way I can get the bail money he used to get out which was probably my money?

Someone also said sue them in Civil court as well. Also I was told that if they had a tax refund due I could possibly get that, but how?

I really need that money!

This must be why crooks keep stealing, they get away with your money and nothing happens to them.
