My question involves traffic court in the State of: California

Hi,

I got a ticket for violating v.c. 21951 last year. Submitted a trial by written declaration and received a letter finding me guilty. I went to the Metropolitan Court House and asked for a Trial De Novo on January 21, 2009. The court has given me a new trial date for March 24, 2009 which is more than the 45 day. Does my right for a speedy trial apply for the trial de novo, thereby asking for a motion to dismiss? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
