    Default FAFSA Emancipation

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Missouri
I am 21 yrs old and i am trying to go back to school. I am having an issue getting any financial help bc fafsa asks for my parents information. My mother passed aways and i havent talked to my dad in about three years. Is there anything i can do to get around this? Or am i going to have to wait until i am 23 to go back to school?

You may try discussing your situation with a financial aid counselor at your chosen school. Your situation is hardly unique, there may be other assistance available for you.

Had you been legally emancipated, I would have told you to just wait until the new College Cost Relief Act goes into effect in July, as it recognizes emancipated minors as independent students.
