Question Refusal to Repossess but Loan Still Charged Off
My question involves an auto loan or repossession in the State of: Florida

So many details about this vehicle, there's just not enough room, so I will get to the crux of it...
The finance company for the dealership charged off the car loan and did not repossess the car. I wrote them and told them to come get it and they wrote back saying they no longer held the account for the loan and to contact the agency the loan was sold to.
I looked on DMV and the original finance company is listed as the lienholder. Since they are the official lienholder, don't they have to take the car if I want to return it? How can I get them to take the car? What rights do I have regarding their refusal to repossess the car? Can I just drop the car off in their lot and give them the keys?
I really need to get rid of this car....
Thank you in advance for your help.

You can't force them to repossess. If you simply drop the car off, you risk that it will be towed and that you'll end up also liable for towing and impound fees - you're the registered owner. Contact them again and try to arrange for dropping off the car in a manner acceptable to them.

They do not have to repossess to write off the loan.

Many lenders will not repo a car if they feel that the value of the auto is not worth the repo fees , storage fees and legal fees.

They will then just charge off the loan and sue you for the balance. As Mr K stated they do not need to repo the car. They do not want the car either if they cant recoup enough money out of it.
