Wrongful Rape Accusation

My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York

a friend of mine had recently come to me complaining of something wrong in his pants, he said it burned everywhere. i said you probably caught something from your girlfriend and we all started joking about how she was a slut and probably had hiv or something. he goes and breaks up with her, his reason being that i had told him that she had aids. she is now telling everybody ive ever met that i raped her. no ones believing her as far as i know but this rumor needs to be stopped. i have stopped the hiv rumor and she talks to me every once and a while on good terms. but everyday a new person comes up to me asking if i raped her. im afraid to have her prosecuted for slander because i dont wanna get arrested for rape. im sure the cops will believe the girl over me and so will the court. theres no evidence besides her word because it never happened. if she goes to the cops am i screwed? if i go to the cops am i screwed? i heard something about a rape victims shield or something saying i cant talk about what lead up to the actual act of consent or something or idk. my anxiety level is through the roof, she has the potential to ruin my life. by the way shes 18 or 19 years old i believe and i just turned 20.

You're not going to get her "prosecuted" because a third party is spreading rumors about you. If you want to stop the rumors, you have to sue the person who is spreading them. Keep in mind that if the person has no money, you'll be bankrolling the litigation yourself - that will be very expensive.
