I run a site that serves the purpose of mostly reviewing videogames and movies. I need screenshots for the site.

Can I just take images from other sites and just put under the images, "Courtesy of whatever the source is"? Or is there more to the process than that?

What if I find an image in a photo sharing site where there's no text claiming who the copyright holder is? Doesn't the copyright holder have a responsibility to inscribe text on the image before having it on the internet? Otherwise how would they be able to prove that the image belongs to them?

"Somebody else stole it first" isn't a defense to copyright violation.

You're going to be selling affiliate copies of the things you profile, right? So why not join an affiliate program that lets you use its images for the products you promote?
