Default Georgia Auto Reposession
My question involves an auto loan or repossession in the State of: Ga.My wife and I bought a new Ford a couple years ago but later we called the dealer to say we could not afford to keep the car.We thought we did the right thing by takeing the car back to the dealer and not letting them repo it.The car was sold and left us to pay the balance. It was fine for awile till things got tight and they garnished my wages.A couple weeks ago i got laid off and today they froze my bank account virtually leaving us broke and in a big mess. What can we do now? I dont think they should be able to take such drastic measures leaveing us pennyless over a car.I have seen many people give cars back and nothing ever said about it.Im not trying to run from my debt but need money to survive also. There are no jobs and my unemployment is our only income. If we keep it direct deposit they will get all of my income.Someone please tell me there is hope.

Unfortunately for you everything they did is completely legal. This same thing happened to my friend because of credit card debt. They took 1k and left $17 in his bank account. But that's what happens when you duck and dodge them and think they'll forget about it. It still sucks though......

Consider talking to a bankruptcy lawyer.

What happens now? If you dont use the bank they cant get anything. He said if i pay 1000.00 garnishment will stop but says it ends in 2 months anyway. What is the worst thing they can do? I will pay my debt but need money to live too.
