Default Getting a Title With an Out-of-State Bill of Sale

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Virginia
I bought a 1974 AMC from a seller in Georgia, which does not require a vehicle of that year to have a title, therefore we printed a Georgia DMV bill of sale and filled it out. They also made copies for me of their driver's licenses. I need to register the car in Virginia but Virginia DMV said they need a Georgia title. The seller moved to Florida the day after I bought the car and no longer has an address or driver's license in Georgia. Is there any other approach I can take with the Virginia DMV?

    Thanks

You need the OLD registration for the car. The seller should have given it to you when you did the purchase.

The registration on older cars (cars built before title years) are valid and used to transfer vehicles and are good from one state to another.

I hope so, as far as I know they will want the ORIGINAL.

The hard copy original of the registration IS the title. I never heard of being able to register a car with a COPY of a title.
