Bench warrant for a nonresident

Here is my situation, a year ago while living in NY w/my fiance. He was cheating on me and it was just a bad siutation. I was hospitalized for attempting suicide. Anway I was released f/the hospital. Approx a week after I got out of the hospital and we got into an agrument. My fiance approached me telling me to hit him...i wouldn't do it -he kept insisting it-any way i finally gave in and hit him---everytime I stopped he would scream for me to keep hitting him. Anyway long story short---i got to the point of no return (he hit me as well)-He calls the cops on me and I am taken back to the hospital. While in the hopsital he gets a restraining order on me. I was served the day I was released f/the hospital-which was also the day I decided I had to leave NY (no family or support during difficult time). After I was issued the order of restraint they told me I would have to appear in court in 2 weeks...I had no where to stay seeing we both lived together and I was now being forced out of my home. I called a detective familiar w/the case and he told me that if my ex were to go to court and explain that he didn't want charges pressed, just the restraining order -also to explain that I had moved and wasnt a threat-I would be ok and they wouldn't issue a warrant for my arrest for failure to appear in court. My ex went to court and supposably they told him it didn't concern him that I needed to be there.So now I have a warrant out for my arrest in NY. I am in Georgia and do not have the funds nor anyone to watch my kids while I travel to NY. I tried contacting the DA, but that did me no good. I am scared that I am going to get arrested here in Georgia and am doing all I can to make it up to NY to get this taken care of. Will I be arrested here for a bench warrrant for harrassment? Can I get a court appointed attorney in NY even though I am in GA, and how? What do I need to do so that when I do finally get to NY it goes smoothly. How do I find a lawyer who will do ProBono cases? I never tried to avoid this just there were no other options for me....I pray the judge hears my side as it wasn't just me fighting it was him as well and he should be held accountable as well. He told my friend that this was his plan (he set me up). I have pictures of the bruises from him hitting me as well.............Please help I am scared every day.............

You can either hire a lawyer in New York to try to work things out for you, or go back to New York, turn yourself in, and try to get a court appointed lawyer. As you have previously failed to appear for a mandatory court appearance, you can expect that you would have to post bond to be released from custody in New York.
