Default Should You Answer The Door For a Repo Man
My question involves an auto loan or repossession in the State of: il

I have a question- I wired Over half the amount passed due on my vehicle this morning. I had lost my job and got behind on payments.

The repo tow truck is across the street waiting for someone to answer the door and surrender the car. What should I do?

The offices are closed to call the loan place.. HELP PLEASE.

I am not home my 17 & 14 year old kids are and they are scared. I told them to not answer the door when I am not home if they don't know who it is. I am about an hour away.

They don't need your permission to take the vehicle. If you didn't pay ALL that was owed, the bank ordered the repo.

Now, if they can't get it because you've locked it in the garage or placed in behind a fence and won't surrender it, they could contact the police at which time you could be charged with Auto Theft, to mention just one.

Give up the vehicle.

There isn't anything that you can do on a Sunday night to get this straighened out. The bank has to cancel the repo in order for them to call off the dogs. Call the bank first thing in the morning and see if they will take a wire transfer tomorrow. We don't know what they will say. It may be too late, it may not be.

If your caught with the car, give it up or you could end up in court facing criminal charges.

If you're caught in the car and refuse to give it up, the repo guy should back off, lest he breach the peace. Not that I'm advising anybody to interfere with a repo.
