My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: north carolina
my husband and i have been renting a home from a rental agency. we are getting ready to move in about a month but are still living here. in our contract the agency has the right to come in our house with notification to us. however a few hours ago, there were future prospect tenants wanting to look at our property. we recieved no notification that they would be coming by. so three complete strangers (with noone from the agency) were standing on our front doorstep with keys to our house and a neighbors house, who both still live here. it was an "honest mistake" by the rental agency, but what if we would not have been home??? they sent people to our home with keys in hand, and we have valuable things here and leave our keys to the car we arent driving in the house. other than having the locks changed, what all is the rental agency liable for here???
