Default Utility Company Construction on Property Without Permission

My question involves real estate located in the State of: IL

The electric company is installing new underground electric cable in my subdivision. As part of this process they have installed a fairly large green cylinder of some sorts in my back yard. I never gave them permission to install anything on my property. I'm fairly certain there is no existing easement on the property. In fact, the utility company sent me a letter requesting me to grant them an easement. However, I never responded to the letter because I did not want them messing around in my yard. It seems they only viewed that letter as some sort of courtesy because they went ahead and installed stuff on my property anyway. My back yard is fenced in, and the installment is inside the fence. I'm particularly annoyed because they have had my yard dug up for several months. I know I probably should have sought advice earlier.

I'm wondering what sort of rights I have in this situation to get the electric company to move their equipment.

    Thanks

Normally there will be an easement shown on the subdivision plat recorded at the courthouse. Check your deed.
