Default Cancer Misdiagnosed 3 Times - Now in Stage 3

My question involves medical malpractice in the state of: Georgia.
I have not been feeling right for nearly a full year. I have visited three different doctors between March 2008 and October 2008 and based on my description of symptoms I have been diagnosed with stress and anxiety, asthma, respiratory infection and allergies. A fourth visit to a doctor 2 weeks ago resulted in a thorough round of testing and an eventual diagnosis of Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma. I was supposed to start chemotherapy today, but the doctor delayed because my insurance company has requested time to conduct an investigation to see if this was a pre-existing condition. I now know that I have had the disease since at least March 2008 but it was never properly diagnosed. I have been with my current insurance company since September 2008. I am very worried that they will determine this was pre-existing and deny coverage for all my testing and treatment.

Do I have any recourse or case against the other docs who never linked all the symptoms and sent me on my way with antibiotics, anti-depressants and an inhaler? None of them ever recommended an X-ray or a blood test, which would have easily shown my high white blood cell count or the mass of swelling lymph nodes in my chest.

I am sorry you're going through this and hope your insurance company makes a speedy decision to cover your treatment. What was the reason you continued to switch Physicians? I ask because switching so often compromises your continuity of care and, possibly, delays a correct diagnosis.

Depending upon the symptoms you presented with at each Doctor visit, their diagnosis & treatment may have been reasonable.

Since we do not have access to your medical records, you can speak with a med/mal attorney who will obtain all of your medical records, from all of the Doctors treating you, and have them reviewed by an expert who will advise further.

    Best of luck to you.
