My question involves a careless driving ticket from the State of: NJ
I received a ticket for careless driving. At 8:00 p.m., I was pulled over for not signalling while changing lanes. It was a main street in the village with two lanes each way. The officer stated that this was a minor offense to which there are no points.
In addition, because I did not appear at the scheduled court date, a notice was sent to my former address. The mail was eventually forwarded, however, it was too late. A warrant for my arrest was issued. I have since posted bail, but did not due so right away because I simple did not have the funds as I have been unemployed. Of course, I should have appeared the first time, so I do not know if this is a defense.
Is there any defense/s I can use to get this ticket dismissed? What is the best I can expect? Do I require an attorney? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
