My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio
My daughter was caught shoplifting $53.00 worth of goods at a meijers store. She is 18 years old. A police officer was called and although she was read her miranda rights, she was not arrested. They called our home to inform us about the incident, and they sent her home.
She was given a civil demand notice and payment in which money is due.
What will happen now? Will she be formally arrested? This type of thing has never happened to any of my children. I'm frightened for her and her future.
