Third DUI, with No Drivers License Due to Prior DUI's

My question involves criminal law for the state of: MI

My mom is being charged with her 3rd DUI (had a BAC of 2.0) she doesn’t have a license due to a previous DUI. Now one of the 2 previous DUI accrued more than 10 year ago (15 years ago 2 be exact) the last one was in 2003. She hasn't had a license since the first offence 15 years ago. She lost her job due to missing work because she was in jail for 2 days. Now she is convinced she is going to go to jail and won't even heir a lawyer. Is there any way around her going to jail? My mom has an addiction, she’s a really good person, but needs help. They want to charge her with a felony but I can't help but feel that she doesn’t belong in prison with women who have committed murder and rape and other horrible crimes. Anyone have any advice? Is there any hope, or is she right to not heir a lawyer?

She's facing felony DUI charges? If so, she needs a lawyer. If she's mentally incompetent due to depression or addiction, try to help her get a lawyer to raise those issues and have her evaluated.

You say that she has no job, is an active addict, and is making no effort to improve her situation? Then, other than saving the county money, the judge will have little reason not to put her in jail.
