Default What Can I Expect As a Co-Signer Who Defaults on a Student Loan

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Indiana
I co-signed for my daughters student loan, she has refused to pay the loan even though she has a full time job. If I can't pay the loan what will happen? I know the credit buearu will be notified, my husband did not co-sign will it effect him as well? Will they go after the signer again since I can't pay or will they just persue me?

The lender can pursue the cosigner in the same manner as the original creditor. The most typical actions are to try to garnish tax refunds, or to seek a court judgment then to seek garnishment of wages or savings, although other collection methods are possible. If you have joint savings or file taxes jointly with your husband, they could try to pursue those (and potentially other) joint assets.
