Does anyone know how to go about filing a diminished value claim and/or how to determine how much one is owed?
Car is a 2000 Mercury Cougar V6
This is in NJ.
The NADA retail value of the car was $9,275 before the accident.
The repair estimate was $5k before they got the door open.
The other driver was 100% at fault and his insurance company has already acknowledged that. The car is currently in the shop to be repaired.
How do I go about trying to file such a claim and how can I find out how much they should pay?
The adjuster called me back and left a voicemail message.
He basically told me I have to go around to dealers and see how much they'd give for the car knowing it had $5k worth of damage.
The car is still in the shop and will not be out until the end of this month at the earliest.
He also said they normally haven't paid such claims in the past, but he'll take a look at what I submit.
