Default Burglary of Habitation F2
My question involves criminal law for the state of texas

I stole some property from a open garage and i later admitted to the crime . SO the courts have my confession on tape.

I have gone to court on the case and my lawyer is saying they will offer me 10 years probation with no conviction.

My question is would it be possible to get it dropped down to a misdemeanor and get reduced probation time. according to my lawyer if he does drop it down to misdemeanor it ill stay on my record. I do not understand why i cannot get it dropped to misdemeanor and still do deferred probation time.

10 years is a very long time on probation even if i can get off in half the time.
thanks in advance for any input regarding my question.

The person to ask is your lawyer.

You should also ask your lawyer about the odds that you'll be kept on probation for a full ten years, as opposed to being put on nonreporting status or getting an early discharge.
