Default Forms of Settlement
My question involves workers compensation law for the state of: Connecticut

I have a Mild Traumatic Brain Injury that I received at work. I am both curious and frightened at what the potential outcome will be in regards to a "settlement" once I get my disability rating. I collect a fairly high amount of comp benefits, have been approved for SSDI (in only 3 months) and know when I will be eligible for Medicare. What are the possible scenarios in settlement? I have heard things like "receiving payments till I am old" or a lump sum. I do know that there would have to be a medicare set aside for future medical. My injury left me in pain nearly 85-90% of my awake hours and it sometimes wakes me asking for more narcotics. The chronic headaches and migraines are my main issue. I fear mostly in losing my home. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks ahead of time.

Default Re: Forms of Settlement
Your settlement relates to your future benefits - that is, it's in lieu of your receiving continued wage loss benefits or medical benefits to which you are entitled. You are apparently looking to settle your medical benefits, and the Medicare set-aside is to reimburse Medicare for costs of your work-related injury post-settlement. Beyond that, I can't really answer as I have no way of knowing what benefits you are receiving, how many weeks of benefits remain, or if we're simply talking about future medial.
