If the accident wasn't your fault, it shouldn't be held against you or your ins. rates raised. (generally that's the case)
How are you planning on getting your vehicle fixed? If you are planning on using the other party's ins. (his parents' ins.), the co. will want to know about the damage to your vehicle & most likely ask for the name of your ins. co.
It's always best to report any accident to your ins. co. (unless both partys agree not to get ins. involved & the at-fault party will pay to get your vehicle fixed.)
