Saw a cop with radar gun; not pulled over.ticket in mail? CA

I was going 55 in a 50. When I saw an officer on the side of the road with a radar gun and I started to slow down instantly. I wasn't pulled over but I want to know is it possible that I might still get a ticket and if i do what should I do.
