My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Nevada
I'm 17 years old. I'll be 18 this upcoming August. My mother lives in Las Vegas, and she sent me to live in Ohio last month without her, or any family for that matter. She says it is because she is too sick to take care of me, but she has never really taken care of me, I never get new clothes, and she has forced me to drop out of school several times. She verbally and mentally abuses me often, not to mention that she is on several medications that make her angry and forgetful, which makes her even more angry when the effect has worn off, and she is always moving me around. I lived in Las Vegas for almost two years, and for the duration, I lived in 5 different homes, before las Vegas, I never lived in a single state for more than a year, constantly moving cities and homes and men. Like I have said, she sent me to Ohio, she sent me here to live with one of her friends, but she refuses to pass over temporary guardianship or custody so that I can get into school or get a job, or my license. She refuses to agree to anything to help me get my life back in order because she is afraid to lose child support from my father. I do not know if I am to look for emancipation possibilities in Nevada or Ohio, but in Ohio it would be near impossible for me. In Ohio I would have to be either legally married or in military service, both would need my mother's permission, and again, she is unwilling to sign anything to help me, unless it helps her more!! What do I do?! More importantly.. what CAN I do??
