Unhappy Independent Contractor - My "Boss" Refuses to Pay Me

My question involves independent contractors in the state of: New Jersey

I have been working as an independent contractor in New Jersey for the past 3 months. I haven't been getting paid for completed work and now it looks like my boss is going to lay me off. Is there any way to guarantee that I get paid for my completed work?

If you are an IC, your only recourse if you do not get paid is to file a lawsuit against your employer/boss.

You're welcome & I hope it doesn't come to that either.
