My question involves criminal law for the state of: South carolina
im trying to get into the army and im having this problem here:
i spoke with my recriuter and she said that the possesion of cocaine charge, the army considers that a felony and once charged with a felony you have to wait to years before they will accept you into the army. i have court for that case on the 11th of febuary 2009. here is the thing. i was driving my car, my cousin had the coke on him and when the cop pulled me over my cousin hid the cocaine unmy passanger seat. the cop could see the coke so he asked who's it was, i honestly didnt know and werent about to take the wrap for that so he said since no one admitted to it that he was gonna charge me with it being it was my car. after a night in jail my cousin spoke to a detective admitting that the coke was his(in writing and verbally). the detective came to me and told me my cousin admitted to it and that they were releasing me from jail and were gonna drop the charge. my question is, will they drop it on the 11th with my cousins confession or can i make something happen sooner to speed up the process of me getting into the army?
Is it worth it to get a criminal defense lawyer and how much do they cost?
my PD is lazy and not motivated at all.
Thank you all for your time
