Default The Issue Date of F1 is Earlier Than J1 Expiration Date

    Hello,

I have J1 visa as an aupair. My J1 visa is gonna be expired on February,2009. But i have accepted from a college in US so now i wanna change my status from J1 to F1. The school is gonna start on January,2009 and my J1 visa is gonna be expired on February,2009. Probably my F1 visa will be issued on January, 2009. There is one month between J1 expiration date and F1 issue date. If it is legal, I would like to complete my aupair program till February,2009 and also go to school with J1 visa and after my aupair program is ended, just continue studying with F1 visa. Could you please tell me if it is legal or not?

    Thank you

You may not legally work while on an F1 visa, except under certain very narrowly defined circumstances (on campus employment, for example). When your F1 comes through, your J1 is no longer valid.
